Hey hey USA - 30th October - vertigo on the Rio Grande

One of the tourist sites in Taos is the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge which stretches over an exceedingly deep gorge where the river snakes at the bottom. It looks rickety although cars go across it and Alan refused to walk over it! It is one of the highest bridges in the US at 565ft and is has been the place of many a suicide jump although little has been done to increase it's security, apart from advertising a Crisis telephone line.
It was actually completed relatively recently in 1965 and renovated in 2012 and has the impressive Taos range of mountains in the background. I had to walk over it as it was a sunny day and I wanted to photograph its shadow beneath it.

Before we drove back across the plain into the town of Taos we went to look for some geodesic domed 'hobbit houses' which you can apparently rent.
