Punting on the Cam

Image
If you fancy a little escapism punting on the Cam is a good way of indulging yourself. Or rather I don't punt but sit relaxed in the bottom of the boat while Alan does the hard work. We did just this a couple of weeks ago with Wendy and April. Hiring the boat from Scudamores we set out upstream towards Grantchester rather than going downstream passed the Backs, which gets very crowded. It was a fine and sunny day and I became fascinated with the reflections under a bridge as we went through. The furry lump in front of Wendy and April is the dog's head.

Cambridge County Show

Image
A hot early June day saw the arrival of the Cambridge County Show to an area of fields in the grounds of Wimpole Hall. There was plenty to excite the crowd including a parade of tractors, western style riding on horses with short legs, heavy horses, dog racing (for pets) etc etc. Here are a few pictures from the event.

Setting up the Annual Exhibition

Image
Here are a few photos taken while Cambridge Camera Club set up their Annual Exhibition last Monday. The situation is the Guild Hall Cambridge, and the time is limited. In fact this part of the set up was all done and dusted in 4 hours and the public seem to think it is the best one yet.

Cambridge Folk Festival

Image
On Friday we went 'en famille' to the Cambridge Folk Festival. We had not heard of any of the groups that were playing, but enjoyed ourselves enormously. Special commendations go to the Bombay Royale - a rocky Asian fusion mixture, great fun. A lovely summery evening. Here are the pictures.
