France, into the Vercors, 17th April Pont-en-Royans

We arrived in Pont-en-Royans, a charming small town with an old quarter overhanging the River Bourne. This must have been useful as an early sewage system. We needed to make some telephone calls back to the UK so we had coffee on a terrace overlooking the river. This had been channelled into various pools with a water feature of questionable taste! Still it was obviously a nice place for the locals to stroll or cycle. Descending to the level of the river we saw that the houses were arranged in a very chaotic manner. There were some lovely reflections, which would have been even better if the sun was shining. We had parked the van in the camping municipal which lay a little out of the town by the banks of the river. The narrow streets in the town were not conducive to parking.
