Road to the isles, 7th July, wet morning at Glenfinnan

After a night of rain the campsite in Arisaig was sodden and the kids were splashing in their wellingtons through the giant puddles that surrounded the awnings. We were now on the homeward stretch of our journey. We travelled towards Genfinnan, stopping by the side of the sea loch, Loch nam Uamh, where Bonnie Prince Charlie first landed on Scottish soil in his ill fated bid to the throne. It was looking particularly dreak. And then on to Glenfinnan. I had forgotten what a horrible place this has become. However the rain meant the piles of tourists were enjoying the home baking in the tea room rather than actually looking at the monument to the spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie first raised his standard. Some rather optimistic placement of solar panels going on here! We walked up the rise behind the cafe to see the viaduct, accompanied by a group of German students shouting Harry Potter.
