London, from around the Tower

Image
I wanted to revisit the Tower of London to see how the installation of poppies had progressed. And they had multiplied considerably since my last view. It is possible to purchase one of them and have it sent to you after Remembrance Day. Here are some images of the Tower and surrounding area including one of the altar in the church of All Hallows by the Tower, the oldest church in the City, founded in 675AD. There are some multiple exposures, inspired by the photos of Valda Bailey http://www.valdabailey.co.uk/p424614016 who has done a much better job than I have managed. Also look at her blog on the same subject on her website.

A day out in London - first and last

Image
Last week I spent a day in London with Mairi and Archie. We met Hugh for coffee and then went to the Design Museum, stopping by the Tower of London for lunch. Here there were masses of people looking at the ceramic poppies placed to 'celebrate?' the first world war. After the museum visit we went to Covent Garden to see the street entertainers where there was a curious mime artist who said he was the oldest person to squeeze into a box of a certain size. I have not shown him in the box as that is pretty uninteresting. I think I will stick to photography! The pictures are mainly taken with the Fuji XE-1 with one LG phone image (the second). I am unashamedly putting the only black and white picture first as it is the best picture,  although chronologically out of order as taken at the South bank. I will post the Design Museum pictures in the next blog.
