Glorious Utah, first light and goodbye to Bryce

Image
We packed up and left the motel early so that we could get to Inspiration Point as the sun rose. The sun bloomed on the Canyon, lighting first the tops of the hoodoos, their limestone glowing like alabaster. before finding the lower redder parts. They stood like soldiers guarding the walls of their castle, or more prosaically molars! Then it was time to move on... to Zion.

Harris workshop, day 6, final morning on Luskentyre

Image
We were due to fly back from Stornoway that morning, but there was enough time to sneak in an early visit to Luskentyre to see the sun rise. it came up spectacularly behind the beach, casting a red glow over the hills. Many thanks to Lizzie Shepherd and Alex Hare for such a well planned and varied workshop.  Hurrah!!

Hebridean workshop day 2, dawn at Traigh Rosamol

Image
I had a very comfortable night in the Harris Hotel and was ready to go out early to photograph sunrise at Traigh Rosamol, a beach just north west  of Luskentyre. We watched a pearly dawn come up and stayed on the beach for a good two hours while the pinks turned to blues. There were few clouds so I did not see a dramatic sunrise, but the subtlety of colour was beautiful and we could see the hills of North Harris.

Scotland autumn 2016, Huisinis Beach sunrise and a trip to Rodel

Image
I had another early morning wake up call and left the van very quietly, as we were parked cheek by jowl to the other happy campers in this tight spot. The van was just across the road from the sea and Harris was giving me another ripping sunrise. Even more gaudy than the one the day before. I watched as the colours intensified and then waned to an overcast sky. I have sneaked one camera movement shot into this set. Back at the van we had breakfast and then were on the road. We drove out of Huisinis and back towards Tarbert. Strangely the road passes straight past the front door of a rather grand estate and we observed some tweedy figures going into the big house. The light was an odd yellowish colour as we motored the length of the east coast of Harris down to Rodel at the southern point.

Scotland autumn 2016, Reef Beach sunrise

Image
Reef Beach certainly had a lot to give and I woke up early to a spectacular sunrise, quite vulgar really. There are a couple multiple exposure pictures at the end.
