A walk from Liverpool Street to the Royal Exchange
Revisiting the end of February this year, I have just looked at some pictures taken in London. Alan had an appointment at the Royal Exchange and we had time to walk there from Liverpool Street Station and take a few shots on the way. Not far down Old Broad Street you can see the curious building which once housed a Turkish Bath. Built in 1895 it is now rather neglected and chained up. Passing that we came to the Georgian church of St Botolph-without-Bishopsgate. St Botolph was an East Anglian saint and we had visited another church named after him in Boston Lincs only a couple of weeks before. There are several churches dedicated to him around the city and he seems to have been very popular. This Georgian one was finished in 1728, being built on the site of an earlier church which had survived the Great Fire, only to fall into disrepair.
