Hey hey USA - 13th October - we fly to El Paso and look at the Mexican border
Alan, Anne and I caught an early flight to El Paso, so there was time in the afternoon to have a quick look around El Paso and the border with Mexico. But first there were some weird glass boxes in the airport showing a selection of boots. Underneath is he flightpath we took.
We met Mike at the airport, his flight came in from Boston shortly after ours, and then picked up the hire car and headed out.
Mike thought it would be interesting to have a look at the Mexican border, and after all the furore on Trump's wall it certainly was. We found a park close to the border, ironically dedicated to the peaceful settlement of the Mexican/US border after 100 years of dispute.
We could see the border from the park but some of these pictures were taken from the car and in another small urban park close by. The town on the Mexican side has a well earned reputation for violence.
The little park had a children's playground almost on the border.
After touring the wall we were off driving north towards the Carlsbad Caverns, our tourist venue for tomorrow.
